sunset rooftop

Enjoying a sunset from a rooftop with a drink in your hand never gets old. One of the most beautiful ones in Barcelona took place at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

We had planned to go that night for pre drinks. It wasn’t as easy as we thought. Actually, we had to drop by twice until we at the third time got a table. The place wasn’t even crowded, so I’m guessing they were playing hard to get. So don’t take no or excuses for an answer. Just a little tip.

They serve both drinks and food at the rooftop, but beware – it’s kind of pricy. A drink is somewhere around €20. At the same time, you get an amazing sunset with the drinks, so it’s worth a couple of glasses. And the cocktails were very complex as well, in a good way.

We got seated just by the pool, with a almost 360 view of the city. Stressed out by the thought of missing our visualized setting of chilling out with a drink in our hand while the sun slowly set over Barcelona, we were quick to order.

“El Baile de Tacna – When Peru and Thailand combine their passion” for me and “Ica’s Dream – Refreshing, smokey hint & delightful acidity” for The Man. They came in a beautiful presentation. I don’t think I have consumed a drink that carefully before, it wasn’t right to mess up such a good looking cocktail. We also got served an aperitivo consisting of nuts and olives. Great snack who just kept coming.

Let’s just say we didn’t speak too much during our visit at the rooftop. The views were too enchanting and I think the pictures speak for them selves.

The rooftop at Mandarin Hotel is beautiful for drinks and I have no doubt that the food is great as well, even though we didn’t eat there that night. I highly recommend this place a visit, it’s oh so romantic.
